What are the Branches of Government?

Student Government is divided into three branches — the executive, judicial, and legislative. Only together can the branches execute all their functions, including the implementation of major projects, funding of student organizations, and enforcment of our rules. You can find a brief description of each branch below.

    Executive Branch

    The executive branch includes the president, vice president, and executive cabinet. This branch leads Student Government committees and task forces, launches major projects and initatives, and may veto actions of the legislative branch.

  • Judicial Branch

    Judicial Branch

    The judicial branch — alongside the Rules Committee — enforces Student Government's rules. This enforcment includes the interpretation of documents, oversignt of investigations, and removal of officers.

  • Legislative Branch

    Legislative Branch

    The legislative branch consists of the Student Senate and its officers. The senate meets weekly to discuss issues relevant to the student body, fund student organizations, and make important appointments.
