    About the Committee

From hosting the One Sustainable Iowa Conference to installing solar trash compactors, the Sustainability Committee is making our campus greener one project at a time.

The Sustainability Committee is comprised of senators and at-large members who design and execute initatives to make our campus a more sustainable place. From promoting more sustainable individual choices to enacting campus-wide improvements, this committee works closely with student organizations and university partners to reduce our collective footprint. For instance, the Sustainability Committee hosted the One Sustainable Iowa Conference in 2024, installed the bike repair station at the Memorial Union, and is the committee behind the solar trash and recycling compactors across campus. Members of this committee gain valuable skills in sustainable practices, attention to detail, and thoughtful land stewardship as they work to create a greener campus for students to enjoy.
